Wii Genius

I had a problem with a Wii game I purchased for my Son recently (Kirby Returns to Dreamland), where the game would not load from the CD and it kept freezing up when launched from the USB boot-loader software.
I immediately suspected that this was due to the fact that I had my system hacked a few years ago to take advantage of downloaded games that I store on a separately connected USB HD.
This proved to be both frustrating and karmic at the same time, however I knew the problem could easily be solved.
I first proved my theory by browsing a few Wii forums that were related to my specific problem. It would appear that a specific update was in order. I then contacted the one person I knew could handle this issue. I dubbed this person my 'Wii Genius'. I found this individual a few years ago (on Craigslist I think) when searching for some new Wii games to transfer.
One of the things I've learned about the Nintendo Wii gaming console is that there appears to be an entire sub-culture of Home Brew Wii hackers that are experts at manipulating the Wii system.
I probably should be able to perform this kind of hack myself, but for some reason I can't seem to get comfortable navigating the Wii OS and Home Brew software the same way I would a computer OS even though they're not that much different. Or perhaps I'm just scared I might screw up the hack and 'brick' my Wii which would render it inoperable. This is a very real hazard for those that don't know what they're doing AND I would have to face Tristan's wrath:(
In any case, my Wii Genius expertly came through for me today and updated the USB Boot-loader and IOS software. The kid is a truly gifted and talented tech associate...
And as a result, my kids and I had a great time tackling Kirby's Return to Dreamland this evening!
Thanks again Wii Genius:)
