Disk Storage & Data Backup

Today I purchased a small passport portable HD to backup my LCL laptop files. I've also got a couple of Terabytes worth of disk storage in my home office ranging from internal drives, external drives and network drives.g
if u haven't already figured it out, my theme for this blog is storage storage storage. Disk storage is CHEAP! and available. There's NO excuse for not backing up your personal and business files with the plethora of cloud, hard disk and flash storage available to us.
When I bought my first real personal computer (Power Mac 7200) in the early 90's, it came with a 500 MB hard drive. It wasn't long before I started to supplement with an Iomega zip drive because I quickly ran out of HD space. Fast forward 18 years later and u can quadruple that storage in a USB flash drive the size of your finger for $25.
So now that I've convinced u to invest in adequate storage, we must now focus on redundancy. What this means is creating a backup for your backup. You see data is delicate, all of your 1's & 0's can be wiped out in a blink of an eye. either by data corruption, virus, HD failure, accidental erase or natural disaster. All of these reasons and more prove that backing up your valuable data in multiple sources is a wise move.
The cloud is probably your best bet, it's the next big thing in personal computing and as such will be the topic of my next blog.
So in conclusion, don't be a dope, back up your data now before it's too late!!! Cause once it's gone, u may never get it back:(
