Nokia Lumia 900

I decided recently that I needed access to more mobile content on the go and my company issued BlackBerry Curve just wasn't cutting it anymore. I also believe this decision was partly due to my inner geek getting caught up in all the iPhone 5 hoopla from last week as I was convinced I wanted one and could no longer exist without a superior smart phone.

I actually tried to register for an iPhone 5 last week which proved futile as the site was jammed packed and not responding. I then tried visiting my local Rogers store in hopes of getting on a waiting list there only to find out that being an early adopter of Apple's latest mobile status miracle is near impossible  However, it was in this Rogers store that became inspired by another brand which doesn't get the much needed attention it deserves and is just as slick as any other smart phone on the market. (Plus I didn't have to wait or stand in any stupid lines to get it)
The phone I speak of has it's on rebel following and is completely outstanding. It's the Lumia 900 by Nokia.
I used to be a big time Nokia user as my first and next 3 phones we're  Nokia branded (before I switched to Palm). I had little experience with Windows Phone 7.5, although I had heard and read positive thing about their 'Live Tile' UI.

As it turns out this phone has a beautiful unibody design witch feels great in my hands. It has a very fast OS (Thanks to a 1.4GHz Scorpion processor) and the User Interface gives the user a fantastic experience. Sending a text is quick and easy as well as checking up on any social network notifications. The social network integration in this phone is the best of any OS as it is literally embedded and part of the OS unlike an added extra in certain areas. I also love how I can charge this phone with a micro USB cable although the wireless charging that's been announced with Win Phn 8 sounds pretty sweet.

App wise Microsoft's Market place is no Apple App store (yet), but I was still able to download all of my favourite social network, News/Tech apps that I use on my Android powered Nexus 7.
It's too bad that the Lumia 900 won't be able to upgrade to Windows Phone 8 when it's announced at the end of October because of the new hardware specs that Win Phn 8 supports. (like duel core processors) But there will be a 7.8 release after the announcement that will give at least give this lineup the look and feel of Win Phn 8.

I don't know how much market share Microsoft /Nokia can gain with the release of Window Phone 8 but For my money, the Lumia 900 is one kick ass phone that I'm completely satisfied with and if Microsoft plays they're cards right with the corporate crowd in 2013, Windows Phone could very easily become the defacto 3rd option to Apple and Android.
The iPhone can suck it, I'm officially a Windows Phone User!!!
